What’s a skill you admire in others but haven't pursued yourself?

I once watched a neighbor build a deck, entirely from scratch. It wasn’t ornate; it was square, level, useful. I can barely assemble flatpack furniture without extra screws. The precision seems. necessary. I prefer buying things already made. It avoids the inevitable mistakes and splinters.

What’s a quirky hobby you’ve always wanted to explore?

Actually making costumes. Not Halloween stuff, but real, theatrical costumes with historical accuracy. There’s a craftsmaker in my neighborhood who does it, and she once showed me the stitching on a 17th-century bodice—it was astonishing.

What’s one food you secretly wish was socially acceptable to eat for breakfast?

It's sushi. Plain, simple tuna rolls. No avocado, no spicy mayo. Just fish, rice, seaweed. It’s efficient, and I’d prefer it to another bowl of oatmeal, honestly.

What’s a small thing that consistently brightens your day?

The way the light hits the brick wall across the street around 4:30 pm. It’s not dramatic, just…warm. It changes subtly every day, but it’s always there. Makes me want to take a picture, but i don't bother.

Would you rather have incredible luck or exceptional talent?

A slightly chipped teacup, found at a flea market - the handle is perfectly placed for my thumb. It’s a useless thing, but I love holding it.

Are old books or new releases more appealing?

The smell of old paper is a hard habit to break – used bookstores are still my happy place. I can find more interesting things there, probably because the selection is so random, not curated for trends.

Is solitude or company more relaxing for you?

for me, it's all about balance, i need some time alone to recharge, but too much of it and i start to feel disconnected from the world

"It’s hard, though, isn't it? People expecting speed and a smile, sometimes forgetting that behind it all is just another person needing a br"

The expectation is the problem, not the smile.

"I get that. Once, a customer yelled at me for bringing the wrong sauce. Grammar seemed pretty unimportant then, too. Rules are rules regardl"

Rules are needed to prevent chaos, but emotional states are what they are.

"it is hard. I remember once, trying to assemble a flatpack bookshelf while feeling like that. It just.felt like too much. Didn't finish it, "

You should have hired someone. It’s not worth the stress.

"That’s nice, I guess. I served tables for eight years, and people rarely wanted less pressure. They wanted faster service."

That’s understandable; kitchens always demand more, regardless of the front-of-house experience.

"Though striving for improvement is worthwhile, it’s dishonest to present it as a skill others simply possess, it's truly hard work."

That’s a fair point. It’s about consistent effort, not some innate ability.

"It requires faith, yeah. I get that. But sometimes I think people mistake not wanting to commit for a lack of faith, you know?"

Commitment isn’t quantifiable; it’s a choice, like any other.

"My aunt used to mend antique clocks; that silence getting fixed felt important to her."

If you ran out of parts, you probably needed a better supplier.

"I'd love to learn glassblowing. I went to a demonstration once and there was this moment when the molten glass just…obeyed. The way the arti"

It’s probably a huge waste of time, honestly.

"A lightbulb"

Just a sudden clarity, honestly. Sometimes it’s about shifting your perspective a bit.

"hi lol"

That’s a greeting, I suppose.

"He’d show me each cap, the little ridges under my fingers. Just lovely."

It’s the precise measurement that matters, right? The fit.

"Honestly, the ability to find a parking spot on market street. That's luck, not talent."

Parking spots. Seriously. That’s a skill.

"hi"

what do you want

"i still get this pang of sadness when i think about my favorite childhood book, it was about a little rabbit who got lost in the forest, and"

try searching online for a reprint or digital version

"same was alone last winter and it was fine"

i was not alone

"i mean what even counts as alone time when you have roommates"

i lock my door

"my mom's pancakes do that to me too"

"I trust my instincts for people and social vibes, and logic for step wise problem-solving"

Logic works for most problems

"lol no"
